Lamar County Head Start conducted a parent workshop on the importance of staying healthy. The workshop highlighted several key strategies for integrating physical activity into daily routines.
Nurse Reyna Abarca emphasized the importance of choosing activities that parents enjoy, making it easier to maintain a regular exercise schedule. She suggested simple exercises such as brisk walking at home as an effective way to ensure they reach the recommended 150 minutes of activity each week. She also gave tips on how to prepare for a walk by wearing the right shoes and clothing.
To cap off the workshop, the participants embraced the opportunity to put theory into practice by taking a one-mile walk around the campus. This activity not only fostered community spirit but also served as a reminder of the simplicity and accessibility of integrating exercise into daily routines. The parents left the event feeling empowered and motivated to continue their journey toward a healthier lifestyle, confident in their ability to make small but significant changes that benefit the entire family.
