Kendra Kae Abbey went home to Jesus on September 16, 2025 at age 68. A faithful servant to Christ and her family, our hearts are heavy knowing how much she’ll be missed, but we rejoice knowing that her spirit simply became too great for her earthly body to hold.
Kendra was born to Bob and Marge Cash on May 16, 1957 in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Growing up as the daughter of a pastor, her life was built on a strong foundation of faith and family from the very beginning. She loved taking vacations with her family to the lake house, conversations with her dad at dinner time, and spending time with her mother coloring, baking, and visiting folks from church. The natural organizational skills and spirit of hospitality she inherited from her mother were traits that Kendra was known and loved for throughout her life.
Kendra met her husband, Mark, while attending Countryside Christian Church in Michigan City, Indiana. While dating, Mark included her son Jacob in everything they did, which solidified the fact that he was the man God intended for her to marry and raise a family with. They were married in May of 1988, and went on to have three more amazing children together: Kaelee, Jon Mark, and Jordan. In 1992, Mark’s job brought them to Paris, Texas, where they raised their family. Kendra became an integral part of the community and the church, which she grew to cherish so very much.
Kendra truly enjoyed serving the church and her brothers and sisters in Christ, whether teaching Sunday School, leading AWANA, hosting a young adult life group in her home, or organizing events. She was a mentor to many young women she crossed paths with throughout the years. She cherished talking and spending time with her siblings and friends, who she loved dearly. As a fiercely loyal and proud mama, she made it her mission to attend all of the numerous sporting events, musical performances, theater plays, and comedy shows that her children participated in… where she was their biggest – and loudest – fan.
After spending 20 years with Paris Independent School District, Kendra retired from her career as a social worker and started her dream job: spending time caring for and loving on her seven grandchildren, who she loved and cherished more than anything in this world. The joy she got from being “Gramma/Grams” truly made her life complete.
Kendra joins her father, Bob, in Heaven, who joined the Heavenly choir of saints and angels in 2015. They are undoubtedly catching up on some great conversations around the dinner table. She is survived by her husband Mark Abbey; her children Jake (Whitney) Carriveau, Kaelee Abbey, Jon Mark (Jami) Abbey, Jordan (Stephanie) Abbey; her beloved grandkids Coehn, Sloane, Alexandria, Rynlee, Kaysen, Pierce, and Teddy; her mother Marge Cash; her siblings Kris (Joel) Nordrum, Kirk (Cathy) Cash and Kameron (Tricia) Cash; along with countless nieces and nephews, family members, and friends who she absolutely loved and adored.
Kendra accepted Jesus as her lord and savior and committed her life to Him when she was thirteen years old. Throughout her time on this earth, she held an unwavering faith in God, which she shared with those who surrounded her. She was a rock when we needed strength, and a gentle voice when we needed wisdom, and a warm hug when we needed comfort. Her wish would be that everyone reading this would experience and accept the amazing grace and unspeakable joy of eternal salvation in Jesus Christ. In His light, we find peace.
A Celebration of Life will be held on October 4th, 2025 at 11:00 A.M. at Calvary Chapel in Paris with a time of visitation beginning at 9:00 A.M.
In accordance with her wishes, cremation has taken place. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Paris Pregnancy Care Center and Lamar County Young Life in Kendra’s memory.
“I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Now there is in store for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will award to me on that day—and not only to me, but also to all who have longed for his appearing.” 2 Timothy 4:7-8
