Justiss Elementary School recently held its annual Veterans Day Program, a heartfelt tribute to those who have served in the armed forces. The event was well-attended by thirty-seven veterans, each of whom was either a family member or a friend of the students at Justiss.
To show appreciation for their service, members of the Student Council personally presented each veteran with a special gift. These tokens of gratitude were a way for the students and staff of Justiss Elementary to express their sincere thanks and honor the sacrifices made by these brave individuals.
The ceremony began and ended with the presentation of the colors, a solemn and respectful tradition performed by the Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts who are students at Justiss. The musical portion of the program featured stirring performances by both the PHS choir and the Justiss choir. The choirs sang a selection of patriotic songs, uplifting the spirits of the attendees and reinforcing the sense of national pride shared by the community.
The program concluded with a poignant rendition of “Taps,” performed by Randy Bunch, a long-time member of the Paris Municipal Band. This traditional bugle call served as a moving tribute to all veterans, honoring their service and sacrifice. The Veterans Day Program at Justiss Elementary School was a touching and memorable event, demonstrating the school’s commitment to honoring those who have served and recognizing the importance of their contributions to the nation.
