Justiss Elementary School recently celebrated its annual Veterans Day Program, a meaningful tribute to the men and women who have served in the armed forces. The event welcomed twenty-six veterans, each connected to the school as a family member or friend of a student or staff member.
In a gesture of appreciation, members of the Student Council presented each veteran with a special gift, offering a personal thank-you and honoring their dedication and sacrifice.
The ceremony opened and closed with the presentation of the colors, a time-honored tradition carried out by Justiss students who are members of the Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts. The program also featured stirring performances by the Justiss Elementary choir. The choir performed a selection of patriotic songs that uplifted attendees and celebrated the shared pride of the community. A special moment was taken to honor Justiss Police Officer Mike Ford on his recent promotion to Colonel in the Texas National Guard.
The event concluded with a moving rendition of “Taps” performed by Tony Boss, former music teacher from Justiss Elementary, serving as a heartfelt tribute to all veterans.
The Veterans Day Program at Justiss Elementary once again provided a memorable opportunity for students, staff, and the community to show gratitude for the sacrifices made by those who have served our nation.
