A life well-lived came to a peaceful close on April 22, 2023, with the passing of Jerry Prunty, 83, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend.
Born on February 18, 1942, in Paris, Texas, to Wynelle and Carter Prunty, Jerry lived a life marked by dedication, warmth, and a tireless work ethic. He was the loving husband of Mildred Prunty for 48 years, and together they built a life full of love, laughter, and cherished memories.
For many years, Jerry proudly worked as a professional truck driver, traveling the country and embracing life on the open road. He reached every state in the U.S. except Hawaii—a feat he took great pride in. His CB radio handle, “Bullshipper,” was affectionately earned during his years hauling cattle across the country. Jerry had a quick wit, a welcoming nature, and never met a stranger. He had a gift for turning acquaintances into friends, and he was loved by most who had the joy of knowing him.
Jerry is survived by his children: Jared and wife Christy Prunty, David Flanery, Jennifer Musharbash and husband Emad, Krystal Arrasmith and husband Roy, and Alma Shipman and wife Joy. He was a proud grandfather to Brooke Prunty, Jordan Stockton, Hannah Thrapp, Colton and Carter Prunty, Ethan and Axelle Arrasmith, Brant, Zoey, and Rani Flanery, and Kais and Sami Musharbash; and great-grandfather to Jaycie Watson and Jaxon and Kason Stockton. He is also survived by sisters in-law Doris Ann and Joyce Prunty, his loving first wife Margie Rodgers, and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Wynelle and Carter, his brothers Bill and Jim, and his son Robert Prunty.
Beyond his dedication to work and family, Jerry will be remembered for his humor, kindness, and the ability to light up a room with a story or a joke. His legacy will live on in the hearts of those he touched.
He will be deeply missed and fondly remembered always.
The family will receive friends at Bright-Holland Funeral Home Saturday, April 26th from 1-3 p.m.
