Jearl Ray Gibson, 78, of Paris, Texas joined his Heavenly Father on Thursday, June 20, 2019, in Paris, Texas.
Bright-Holland Funeral Home has scheduled services for 2:00 p.m. Monday, June 24th, at Mt. Olive Baptist Church with Rev. Mike Fortenberry officiating. Burial will follow in Mt. Olive Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the fellowship hall of Mt. Olive Baptist Church following the funeral service.
Jearl was born on May 23, 1941, the son of J. B. and Helen Gibson of Holly Creek, Oklahoma. He graduated from Idabel High School in 1959, where he excelled at football. He graduated from Paris Junior College on a football scholarship in 1961, and graduated from the University of Oklahoma in 1963, with a degree in business, majoring in Marketing and Management.
He was an insurance adjuster for over 50 years, over 30 of those years were as an owner of his own business. Jearl loved to ride horses with friends and family. He was a collector of knives and guitars. He enjoyed surrounding himself with his family.
Jearl was a member of East Paris Baptist Church. He once served as a deacon, choir member, and a soloist. He was a former member of Mt. Olive Baptist Church for over twenty years where he served as a music director, deacon and Sunday school teacher.
Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Dottie Gibson, his two daughters, Cheryl Eisenach & husband Aaron, and Jill Gibson, his brother, Jerry Gibson & wife Betty, a sister, June Seales along with ten grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, numerous nieces & nephews, and a host of friends.
Jearl was preceded in death by his parents, and a daughter, Christie Gibson LaRue.
Casket bearers will be: Jason LaRue, Chris Truan, John Harwell, Aaron Eisenach, Marty Pope and Landen Jestis.
