January is dedicated to raising awareness about human trafficking and putting an end to this heinous crime.
DID YOU KNOW? DPS’ Criminal Investigations Division (CID) has teams of dedicated Special Agents stationed across the state — from El Paso to Lubbock, San Antonio to Dallas, Brownsville to Houston — who are charged with investigating human trafficking crimes. Human trafficking is a profitable enterprise, and DPS Special Agents work every day to identify, investigate, disrupt and dismantle major human trafficking organizations.
Human trafficking impacts individuals around the world and right here in Texas. It impacts people regardless of age, gender, cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds, and it’s important to raise awareness about this terrible crime.
As a reminder, the Human Trafficking Hotline is a resource for people to receive help, report a tip or request information/training. You can reach the National Human Trafficking Hotline by calling 1-888-373-7888 or by sending a text to BeFree (233733).
