A Paris man is recovering in a Dallas area hospital after he was shot while confronting a suspect attempting to break into vehicles on FM 905 shortly after 3 a.m. on Tuesday.
Lamar County deputies were dispatched to a residence on FM 905 for a report of a motor vehicle burglary after a caller stated they had interrupted a suspect attempting to break into their vehicles.
While en route, deputies received another report regarding a gun shot would related to a separate motor vehicle burglary at another residence on FM 905.
Upon arrival, the homeowner stated that he heard noises outside, went to investigate, and was confronted by a suspect breaking into his vehicle, which was parked in the driveway,
The homeowner confronted the suspect, who shot him and fled the scene in a dark-colored car.
According to family members, the homeowner is being treated at a Dallas area hospital and is in good condition.
