First and foremost, we are committed to providing the highest quality of care and protection to all of our residents. Protecting our residents’ health and safety is our top priority.
Be assured, we are following all CDC, CMS, Texas HHSC and the President of the United States recommendations for controlling the exposure of COVID-19 to our very vulnerable population. Those recommendations include visitor restriction.
The current COVID-19 outbreak means that it is critical that we take every precaution possible to protect our residents and staff. We are following all recommendations issued by all state and federal health agencies to keep our residents protected from this virus. The Centers for Disease Control (CDC) has done a careful review of the effects of the COVID-19 virus in the elderly and those who have underlying medical conditions. Experts are recommending we take action to limit individuals from entering our building and to ensure sick employees stay home.
For these reasons, we restricted visitors from entering our facility. There is a risk that people who are infected, but who appear and feel healthy, will enter nursing homes and infect residents and the staff members that care for them. Studies of past viral epidemics show that limiting interactions with other people slows the spread of the virus. We must prevent this virus from entering our center and protect our team’s health so that they may continue to care for our residents.
We understand that this drastic action will prevent families and friends from seeing their loved ones. However, our residents’ health and safety are our top concern. We are committed to doing everything we can to protect them from this dangerous virus.
Family members can reach out to the facility for updates on their loved ones anytime, which can include virtual calls between families and their loved ones. We are confident that our aggressive infection control protocols and interventions will prevent the virus from entering our facility.
We thank our families, our staff and our community for their understanding and cooperation during this difficult time.
