Come Sept. 3, the air surrounding the Market Square Farmer’s and Artisan Market will be filled with the aromatic smell of roasted Hatch Chiles as the Hatch Chile Fest returns.
More than 2,000 pounds of hatch chiles have been sold or served during previous Hatch Chile Fests in Paris.
Hatch chiles are grown in New Mexico’s Hatch Valley, near the Rio Grande, and some Hatch Chile recipes worth a try include hatch Chile enchiladas, hatch Chile salsa and pulled pork hatch Chile stew.
The Hatch Chile Fest will take place 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at Market Square Farmers Market, 400 1st St. SW in Paris.
