Harold Wayne Vaughan, 91, of Paris, TX passed away on July 1, 2023. He was born March 3, 1932 in Kanawha, TX and was the only child of Douglas and Elsie (Graves) Vaughan. In the year 1941, his family moved to Freeport, TX, where Harold went to school and graduated from Freeport High School in 1950. After graduation, he started working and became a member of the Pipe and Steamfitters Local 211 in Houston, Texas.
Then Harold signed up for the United States Army and was stationed in Worms, Germany where he served during the Korean War from the years 1952 through 1954. After receiving am Honorable Discharge, Harold attended the University of Houston and returned to working in the Mechanical Industry.
During this time Harold married and had one daughter, Janet Lynn Vaughan. Years later Harold divorced and then sometime in 1982, he met and started dating Lita Hazel Stevens and they got married on March 19, 1983. After Harold retired in 1989, he decided to move back near his childhood home and settled in Paris, TX.
After Harold moved back to Paris, he became a member of Calvary United Methodist Church, where he was an active member of the Friendship Class. Harold also joined the Methodist Men Sunshine Club and enjoyed being involved by helping to plan and help cook each meal for the Senior Citizens meal.
Survivors include his daughter, Janet Vaughan of Rapid City, SD; step-daughters and husbands, Rhonda and Ken Voight of Dallas, TX, Vicki and Curtis (Chip) Hensarling of Huntsville, TX, Donna and James (Jim) Kettler of Elkhart, TX; stepsons, Dalton (Buddy) and wife, Michele of Dickinson, TX, Billy Stevens and husband, James Barrett of Houston, TX; grandchildren, Matthew Hensarling, Mikey Hight, Christina Tamayo and Joshua Stevens and several great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, Harold was preceded in death by his wife of 235 years, Lita Hazel Vaughan.
Funeral services are set for 1:00 PM on Saturday July 8th, 2023 at Fry Gibbs Funeral Home in Paris, Texas. The Reverend Kevin Strempke and Reverend Beverly Olsen will officiate. The family will receive friends and family one hour prior to the service at Fry Gibbs.
