Halloween may not be as chocolate-y as years past, after Hersey announced it’s inability to keep up with demand during the upcoming holiday.
Hershey CEO Michele Buck warned the company “will not be able to fully meet consumer demand,” after the company’s second-quarter results were released Thursday.
According to reports, customers’ demand for both regular and Halloween-themed candy are higher than normal.
Using the same manufacturing lines for its regular and seasonal products, the company is unable to amp up its production for both holiday-themed and regular products.
“We had a strategy of prioritizing everyday on-shelf availability,” Buck said. “That was a choice that we needed to make … It was a tough decision.”
