Gwendolyn “Gwen” Bell Smith, 92, of Paris, passed away Tuesday, February 27, 2024 at Stillhouse Rehabilitation and Health Care Center. Graveside services will be conducted at 11:00 AM Thursday, February 29, 2024 at Evergreen Cemetery with Dr. Tommy Turner officiating.
Mrs. Smith was born on March 13, 1931 in Atlas, Texas a daughter of H.C. “Baldy” and Aleine Hawkins Bell. She was a homemaker, a member of Oak Park United Methodist Church and a 1948 graduate of Paris High School.
Mrs. Smith married Melvin Smith on October 2, 1948 in Garrett Memorial Methodist Church. He preceded her in death on May 30, 2017. She was also preceded in death by her parents, a brother, Donald Bell and 2 sisters, Dossie King and Patsy Rosson.
Mrs. Smith is survived by children, Doug Smith and wife, Susan, Peggy Cassell and husband Jerry; grandchildren, Bert Smith and wife Jennifer, Michael Cassell and wife, Kelli, Lacy Beshears and husband, Josh, Matt Cassell and wife, Dalinda; great grandchildren, Logyn Beshears, Morgyn Beshears, Ansley Cassell, Rylan Casssell, Kenzie Cassell, Kennedy Cassell and a great-great granddaughter, Rinlee Jackman and several nieces and nephews.
