Greenville police officers and firefighters rescued an individual who was stranded in a creak/drainage bed using a drone with thermal visual on Tuesday night.
Police say the individual was exposed to the elements for several hours and when first responders arrived on the scene, they found there was no natural or manmade access for emergency vehicles to get to the person.
“At this time, GPD made the quick decision to deploy one of the departmental droves to assist in locating the individual,” said Greenville PD. “Through the use of this technology, the officer was able to located the individual using thermal visual, and communicate via speaker from the drone to keep the scene calm and assure the individual help was on the way.”
