Gloria Fitzgerald, age 79, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and aunt passed away peacefully on May 20, 2025, in Paris, Texas.
Bright-Holland Funeral Home has scheduled graveside services for 2:00 p.m. Saturday, May 24th at Lake Creek Cemetery, County Road 4620, Lake Creek, Texas with Rev. Brad Miller officiating. Linda Burket will serve as eulogist.
Gloria was born May 30, 1945, in Delta County, Texas to Dewey and Johny Mae Preston. She graduated from Delmar High School and Paris Junior College.
Although her life was characterized with numerous health challenges, Gloria developed and maintained a strong faith in Jesus Christ and always possessed a sweet and loving disposition to all who knew and loved her. She was a member of Springlake Baptist Church.
As an avid follower of sports, Gloria especially loved the Dallas Cowboys football and Texas Rangers baseball. She was a creative seamstress and loved to thrift shop.
Gloria is survived by her son, Jonathan and wife Tammra, their children, Kelcey and J.L. Fitzgerald, a great grandson, Colby James, her brother, Douglas Preston, her very special and loving sister, Mary Ruth Vaughan, and several nieces and nephews.
Gloria was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Jerry Fitzgerald, brothers, Dewey J. Preston, Jr., James T. Preston, Sterling Pierce Preston, Lee Roy Preston, Ray Stanley Preston, John R. Preston, James Paul Preston, and sisters, Mae Marie Preston Burket and Ann Preston Lamb.
The family gratefully acknowledges the caregivers of Legend Healthcare Center, Heart to Heart Hospice, Jamie McNeely, and her beloved sister, Mary Ruth for their care of Gloria over several years.
