Gerald Eugene Wright, 87, of Paris, passed away Wednesday, Sept. 10, 2025, at his home.
Bright-Holland Funeral Home has scheduled services for 1:00 p.m. Monday, Sept. 15th at the Evergreen Chapel of Evergreen Cemetery with Rev. Sam Hunnicutt officiating. The United States Army will provide military honors. The family will receive friends at the Evergreen Chapel one hour prior to the service.
Mr. Wright, the son of Samuel Eugene Wright and Etta Lorene Bell Wright, was born March 28, 1938, in Paris, TX. In 1957, he graduated from Paris High School. Gerald then joined the National Guard and was called up during the Cuban Missile Crisis. He began a career at Texas Instruments, which spanned 33- and one-half years before his retirement in 1989.
Gerald was known across Lamar County as one who joined in The Talk of Paris each morning. He’d share things about his military experience and his many years at TI. Gerald loved animals, especially his dogs.
Survivors include his wife, Sandra Hamm Wright, whom he married on Feb. 1, 1969, three children, Kenneth Wright, Melissa Wright and husband John Price, and Russell Wright and wife Jana, grandchildren, Amber Bond and husband Kenneth, David Samuel Dunagan, Lucas Adam Wright and wife Karley, Brennan Miller, and Madyson Wright, a great grandson, Dexter Bond, one sister, Sandra Edwards, one brother, Brett Wright and wife Shelli and numerous cousins including his favorite cousin, Mary Lou Coe along with several nieces and nephews and a host of friends.
Casket bearers will be: Russell Wright, Kenneth Wright, Brett Wright, Brennan Miller, David Dunagan, and John Price. Dexter Bond will serve as an honorary bearer.
