George Arthur Rater, 78 of Blossom, passed away Wednesday, April 18, 2018.
Funeral services have been set for Sunday, April 22, 2018, at 2:00 P.M. at Fry-Gibbs Funeral Home with Rev. Robert Myre officiating. Interment will follow at Detroit Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service time on Sunday.
He was born in Shannon, Texas on September 19, 1939, to J.W. and Nana Lou Rater. He served in the United States Army, then the Army Reserves. George was a Rancher and Cattleman.
He is survived by his daughters, Julia Ann Lazos and husband Sal, Amanda Marie Giberson and husband Robert; grandchildren, Tara Lynne Uwakwe, Shanna Dion Clark, Cheyanne Deverell, Ryan Giberson, Lizzy Giberson, Robbie Giberson, Alex Giberson, Hope Giberson, Faith Giberson and Gage Giberson; great-grandchildren, Jaxon, Allison and Landyn; sister, Arlene Raney; brother, Edgar Rater.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Myrtle Gellinger and Aneta Rater; brothers, Jack Rater, John Rater and Jim Rater.
Honorary Pallbearers are Bob Rater, Jack Rater, Chuck Rater, Randy Rater, Jim Raney, Mark Gellinger, and Cory Gellinger.
