Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis announced his bid for the White House on Wednesday night after a 30-minute delay due to issues with Twitter, the platform DeSantis went live on with Twitter owner Elon Musk and tech entrepreneur David Sacks.
“We’ve gotten so many people here that we are kind of melting the serves,” said Sacks.
Eventually, DeSantis was able to speak, announcing, “I’m running for president to lead our Great American Comeback.”
The audio-only event lasted more than an hour.
In a campaign video released at the same time, DeSantis says in a voiceover, “Our border is a disaster. Crime infests our cities. The Federal Government makes it harder for families to make ends meet. And , the President, flounders. But decline is a choice, success is attainable and freedom is worth fighting for.”
