Over a dozen firefighters battling a blaze in Trenton on Sunday afternoon were treated for heat exhaustion and two were transported to the hospital.
Shortly before 1 p.m., crews from Trenton Fire Department, Blue Ridge Fire, Leonard Fire, Randolph Fire, Westminister Fire, Whitewright Fire, Bonham EMS and Whitewright EMS were dispatched to a mobile home that was “completely engulfed” upon arrival in the 100 block of East Line Road.
“The residence was difficult to access,” said Trenton Fire Department online. “The heat also worked against us today and we had several firefighters that had to be treated and released on the scene for heat exhaustion. Two had to be transported to the hospital.”
Trenton Fire Chief C.J. Fillingham told KXII, the two firefighters that were sent to the hospital were given fluids and released the same day from the hospital.
The mobile home was a total loss and the cause of the fire is under investigation.
