Throughout the year, Paris EMS raised almost $9,000 with their ‘Fill The Boot’ campaign and this Christmas are giving back to the community.

“For a lot of children in Lamar County this is all they get and it feels good to be able to help those kids that wouldn’t get something otherwise,” said B-Shift Supervisor Russell Thrasher.

Money raised by Paris EMS stays in Lamar County with $500 in gifts each being distributed to Child Advocacy Center, Casa For Kids Red River Valley, Lamar County Head Start, and Paris Pregnancy Center.

“We also buy for 40 angels from the Salvation Army Angel Tree and we recently donated $2,000 to the Lamar County Human Resources Council Meals on Wheels,” added Thrasher.

Paris EMS has been raising money for local charities through their ‘Fill The Boot’ campaign for over 25 years.

“Anyone who donates when they see out at the entrances of Walmart with our boots can rest assured that money goes back into the community, not only in donations to charities but we also buy locally.”

Gibson Dyess, whose father Jason is an EMT, helped shop for items at Walmart earlier this morning.

“He enjoys giving back to the community and will also document it for school as part of his career inventions class,” said Jason Dyess.

Paris EMS plans on being at the entrances of Walmart tomorrow, Friday and Saturday (pending weather).

“Money that we raise now will go towards our 2019 campaign and giving back next Christmas,” said Thrasher.
