East Texas A&M University men’s golfer Janis Erll has been named the Southland Conference Men’s Golfer of the Month for the month of October on Monday afternoon.
He is the first Southland honoree for the Lions this season. Erll (Lich, Germany) had an impressive October, which included helping the Lions win the LaTour Intercollegiate, while also tying for first for the individual medal at the tournament as well, before falling in the playoff.
In the second round, he shot a 62, which set a course record, better than Brooks Koepka, as well as the program record for lowest score in a round. Erll also had a top eight finish at the Bubba Barnett Intercollegiate earlier in the month as the Lions finished third as a team.
The Lions closed out the fall with a tournament win at the LaTour Intercollegiate. The full spring schedule will be released in the coming weeks.
