Elizabeth “Betty” Jane Domingue was born on November 19, 1933, to Walter and Anna Brasseaux Domingue in Carencro, Louisiana. She attended the Charity Hospital School of Nursing in New Orleans and married Dr. William “Bill” deG. Hypolite Hayden of Tulane University on June 9, 1953.
The couple moved to Temple, Texas to intern at Scott & White Hospital. In 1957, Paris became home after establishing a medical practice. Betty joined Good Earth Garden Club, supported St. Joseph Hospital Auxiliary, attended Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church, and served on the Lamar County Historical Association and Museum Board. The couple’s philanthropic interests created The William and Elizabeth Hayden Museum of American Art in Paris and the Lamar County Historical Museum.
Mrs. Hayden leaves behind daughter, Neta Greene (Gary) of San Antonio; son, Billy Hayden of Paris; and brothers, Ernest and Peter Domingue (Linda) of Lafayette and Carencro, Louisiana. Grandson, Major Hayden (Rachel) of Cibolo made her a Great-Grandma to Evan and Cora. Betty was proceeded in death by her parents, stepmother, Anna Lou David Domingue, brother, Raymond Domingue, and her husband.
