Paris Main Street is swinging for the green as its third year in bringing Miniature Golf to downtown Paris on Aug. 13 and 14.
“Paris, Texas Main Street Program is always in the mood for fun and games that highlight the amazing merchant shops in our beautiful historic downtown,” said Main Street promotions chair, Emily Temple, owner of Paris Baby and Main Street Board Events chair, referring to the Mini Golf Challenge set for Friday, August 13 and Saturday, August 14 in downtown. “In partnership with the downtown businesses the Main Street Project volunteers are planning a weekend event for the whole family, continued Temple.
Participants will enjoy 18 holes of miniature golf courses where greens are either inside or outside of businesses and see what the merchants downtown have to offer. Specials and discounts at participating merchants will be available that day along with the chance to win prizes.
During the event, participants will go to 18 locations to play a hole of golf. Each location will have a “theme” green built for this event. Participants can bring their own putter or golf ball, but it isn’t necessary as all supplies will be provided at check-in. Participating businesses are challenged by competing in a friendly competition for the best green. All golfing participants will be asked to vote for their favorite green. The last two years’ winners were Peoples Bank in 2019, and South Main Iron in 2020.
Golfers with a hole-in-one on any green and certain low scores will be placed in a raffle to be held on Saturday for some fun prizes. Need not be present to win.
Admission to the event is $5 per adult, and children 13 and under are free with an adult. Wristbands will be provided and the one admission price is good for both Friday evening and Saturday. A $1 dollar donation of each wristband purchase will be distributed to the Downtown Food Pantry.
A ticket booth will be set up on the east side of the JJ Culbertson fountain on the plaza in downtown. Wristbands will be sold beginning at 4:45 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 13 and be available until 7:30 p.m. Sales will resume Saturday, Aug. 14 at 10:45 a.m. till 3:30 p.m. A wristband and scorecard will be distributed to all participants.
The downtown restaurants are participating both Friday and Saturday by offering some “19th Hole Specials” that can be taken advantage of after the golf game. Specials will be listed on the scorecard.
”This is a family-friendly event giving everyone something to do before the kids go back to school”, says Main Street Coordinator, Cheri Bedford. Last year the Main Street Board was able to give back by donating $400 dollars to support the Downtown Food Pantry.”
