Dorothy Muriel Ringwald-Kester, peacefully passed away at 12:20 AM on April 23rd at Heritage House while her granddaughter Zoe held her hand and her son, Jimmy was looking on.
There will be a memorial service on June 8 at 4:00 PM at Gospel Lighthouse in Powderly.
Dorothy was born to Alvis and Nora Ringwald in Manchester, Texas on November 25, 1944. She was the third child of seven. She married Clyde Kester in 1961 and the couple had three sons. Later, she met Robert Adkins and they were together for over 20 years.
Dorothy helped to raise her granddaughter, Zoe Filkins and Zoe was the little girl she had always wanted to have. Dorothy’s best friend was her great-grandson, Hendrix Filkins. She was not only mom and mammy to her kids and grandchildren but to all their friends as well.
Dorothy was led to Jesus 7 years ago and was baptized at Pathway Church in Paris, Texas that same year.
She loved to sing and dance and loved her Texas Rangers and OU Sooners. She loved to go to the casino and to make others laugh. She was an inspiration and a treasure to all who knew and loved her.
She is survived by her three sons; Alvin Kester, Charlie Kester and partner, Linda Atchley, and Jimmy Kester; three brothers, Bobby Ringwald and wife, Janet, Chuckie Ringwald and wife, Janet and Gerald Ringwald and wife, Birdie; sisters, Gertie Nelms, Sally Fendley and husband, Charles, and Shirley Farmer; grandchildren, Ashlee, Cayton Kester, Shelby Bliss, Cheyanne Hecker, Zoe Filkins, Hendrix Filkins, Jaiden and Jaci Kester and Gabriel Kester and daughter-in-law, Cindi Kester; and many more great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews, Kester in-laws, and friends and family.
She was preceded in death by her daddy and momma, Alvis and Nora Ringwald; her husband, Clyde Kester and Robert Adkins; daughter-in-law, Kathy Kester and her little dog, Natty.
We would like to extend a special thank you to all those who looked after her and cared for and loved our momma and mammy over the years; especially Heritage House. We appreciate and love you for it.
