Dorothy Faye Melton, 89, of Deport, passed away Friday, Nov. 22, 2024, at Heritage House of Paris.
Memorial services are scheduled for 6:00 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 5th at Bright-Holland Funeral Home with Rev. Jimmy Lee and Patrick Watson officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service.
Mrs. Melton, the daughter of Wallace Farris and Luttie Smith Farris, was born July 27, 1935, in Lamar County, Texas. Her career as a Medication Aid at Red River Haven spanned many years before her retirement. She attended First Baptist Church of Deport, Faith Baptist Church, and the Day Spring House of Prayer in Deport.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, her first husband, John Thomas, her second husband, Raymond Melton, her son, Monty Thomas, a son-in-law, Rickey McMikel, and three siblings, Travis Farris, James Farris, and Thelma Smith.
Survivors include two daughters, Sheryl Watson and husband Patrick and Debra McMikel, grandchildren, Shannon McMikel and wife April, Mandy George, Misty Webb and husband Michael, Jennifer Aker and husband Drew, Jason Thomas and wife Cayla, Grant Watson, Ashley Bush and husband Lance, Clifton Watson, Carlie Huie and husband Laramie, and Jordan Watson, a plethora of great grandchildren and two sisters, Wilma Claypool and Dola Roach along with many nieces and nephews and a host of friends.
