Crockett Intermediate School student Curt Fendley has been honored for his exemplary volunteer service by the 2018 Prudential Spirit of Community Awards program. This award is presented annually by Prudential Financial in partnership with the National Association of Secondary School Principals. This national program honors middle level and high school students across America for outstanding volunteer service.

Thousands of young people across the country were considered for the 2018 awards. From all of these, a select few have been selected for special recognition. Fendley was named a Distinguished Finalist.

Fendley is the founder of “Operation Empower,” an after-school leadership program that mobilizes fellow Boys & Girls Club kids to work together on projects benefiting the club and community.

Fendley received an engraved Prudential Spirit of Community bronze medallion in recognition of his outstanding volunteer service.

Fendley also qualified for the President’s Volunteer Service Award, where he received a congratulatory letter and certificate from President Donald Trump.
