Yestereday morning, the Lamar County Commissioners honored Judge Chuck Superville for his service to the community.

Administrative assistant Nita Hollje said, “I have enjoyed my time working for him since 2007, we worked a lot of late evenings, and I learned a lot from him.  He is a good man.”

The following proclamation was read:

Maurice Charles (Chuck) Superville, Jr., has been a resident of Lamar County for 28 years, having on January 2, 1990, started working in the Lamar County Attorney’s office as a prosecutor. Chuck worked in the Lamar County Attorney’s Office prosecuting misdemeanor and
felony cases for 6 years; and on December 4, 1995, he was appointed County Judge by the Commissioners’ Court of Lamar County, at the age of 38, and was elected County Judge in 1996.

Chuck has worked as County Judge since 1995; which he has conscientiously and stalwartly held until his final court session coming up in December 2018 and retirement on December 31, 2018; and Chuck was born and raised in Houston, Texas, he has a large family: 5 brothers and sisters, 7 nieces and nephews. Chuck received his BBA degree from The University of Texas with a major in accounting. Chuck has a Juris Doctorate (law degree) from the University of Texas in Law, he is both a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) and a licensed lawyer in the State of Texas; and he began his career as a financial auditor for a large accounting firm called “Coopers & Lybrand”.

Later, Chuck worked in the corporate tax department for a company called “Houston Natural Gas”, which later became “Enron Corporation”; and over these past 23 years as County Judge, he has heard over 50,000 cases and can proudly say he is the longest continuously serving County Judge in Lamar County; and Judge Superville is known for his fairness, toughness and has followed his principles according to the law when performing his duties, but also memorably and fondly known for his quick wit and astuteness when the occasion warranted a lighter moment.

The Commissioners’ Court of Lamar County, that we do hereby extend our most sincere gratitude to Judge Chuck Superville, Jr. for his many years of service and commitment to Lamar County and congratulate him on his well-deserved retirement as County Judge, with best wishes for many years of happiness and contentment.
