Clara Nelle Poteet, 93 of Paris, passed away May 27, 2025.
A graveside service has been set for Saturday, May 31, 2025 at 2:30 PM at Lake Creek Cemetery with Rev. Mike Atkins officiating. No visitation has been scheduled.
Nelle was born in Delta County, Texas on July 14, 1931 to V.R. and Ella Jones Young. She was a long time member of Friendship Baptist Church. She was a very talented and accomplished pianist, having served as church pianist for many years.
She is survived by numerous nieces and nephews, Ann Hinsley, Delbert Speed; including special niece, Brenda Ballard Malone; many great-nieces and nephews, including, Shelia Rock, Paula Melton, Robert Ballard, Mechelle Godsey, David Malone and Tresa Stinson.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Poteet; daughter, Terrilynn, Poteet; parents, V.R. and Ella Young; siblings, Ester Pauline Young Oaks, Othla Celeste “Bud” Young, Voliver “Hollis” Young, Clayton Ray Young, Kenneth Earl Young, Roy Alvoy “Pete” Young, twins, Buel and Euel Young, Gaylia “Joyce” Young Speed, Marvin Osler Young; grandparents, Jay Pee Franklin “Frank” Young, Frances Jane Hooks Young; nieces, Vickie Young, Linda Munson.
