City of Paris Fire, EMS and Police departments responded to a report of a possible drowning at about 6 p.m., Saturday, March 22, at Lake Crook.
First responders were told that a 30-year-old male had entered the lake to retrieve an item of personal property floating in the water.
Witnesses stated that the man appeared to struggle and had underwater but had not resurfaced.
The Paris Fire Department Dive Team and Texas Parks and Wildlife Game Wardens located and recovered the victim from near the area where he was last seen.
He was pronounced dead at the scene. An investigation is pending while awaiting receipt of an autopsy report.
