Christine Preston Dickinson of Paris, Texas, passed away July 21, 2025. Memorial services will be conducted at Calvary United Methodist Church on July 25, 2025, at 10:00 am with Kevin Strempke officiating. Visitation will be 1 hour before the service. Burial will follow at Evergreen Cemetery.
Mrs. Dickinson was the eighth child of 12 children born to Thomas Jefferson Preston and Mary Jane Hagood Preston on the family farm south of Paris, Texas. She is survived by her daughter, Diane Tellez and son John Dickinson (Jae). Mr. Dickinson passed away April 20, 1996.
Mrs. Dickinson graduated from Midway High School (now Chisum), Paris Junior College and attended East Texas State University (A&M) Commerce. She completed U.T. Austin Management Seminars for Advanced Executives, also U.T. Arlington School of Social Work.
Mrs. Dickinson married John J. Dickinson on March 30, 1946, at Calvary Methodist Church. He was a lifetime devoted member of Calvary. She joined October 17, 1948. Both served in many areas of the Church, helping build the new Church at Lamar and 31st street beginning in the 1950’s.
Mrs. Dickinson attended NE Texas Women’s Walk to Emmaus #9510, April 20-23, 1995.
Mr. & Mrs. Dickinson had three children, Diane Tellez, Suzanne Dickinson and John Dickinson, Jr. Suzanne passed away August 03, 2020, at the age of sixty-eight. Grandchildren, Joseph Tellez (Paige), Paris, Natalie Alonzo, Dallas, Matt Dickinson (Aime’e), The Colony, Ben Dickinson (Danielle), Sherman, Travis Kim (Kiana), Arlington. Great Grandchildren Julian Tellez and Olivia Tellez, Great Great Grandchildren Ellie Kim, Connor Dickinson, Shepherd Dickinson, Dezi Tellez, Cora Cox, Beau Kim.
Mrs. Dickinson had a career with the Texas Department of Human Resources placing children in adoption and foster care and licensed both. She served as the Regional Management Specialist for Personnel, Business Management and Finance between the Region and State office in Austin. She retired December 31, 1985.
Mrs. Dickinson loved her family, admiring their achievements, activities and contributions to others through love, faith, education, sports and music. Their son, John Jr., attended the World Jamboree for the Boy Scouts in Oslo, Norway at age 15 and is an Eagle Scout.
Mrs. Dickinson enjoyed cooking, gardening, playing forty-two, Tennis, Soccer, the Dallas Mavericks and classical music. She crocheted large, warm, and colorful afghans and gifted them to special people for their enjoyment. She crocheted and gave away over 250 afghans.
Mr. and Mrs. Dickinson were volunteers at St. Joseph’s Hospital Auxiliary for many years and were active in Girl and Boy Scouts. She played a key role in organizing the Paris Tennis Association in 1964. She promoted and participated in tennis at the Local, Regional and State levels. She was active in Red Cross, Altrusa Career Club and Twilight Tillers Garden Club. She served as a Trustee and President of Lake Creek Cemetery Association. Her parents, paternal Grandparents, siblings and many relatives and friends are buried there.
