Mason LaRue, a Chisum ISD senior, is returning home a National Champion after winning Digitally Enhanced Art – Division 1 category at the Senior Beta Nationals Convention, the second consecutive year he has won the title at the convention.
Last year, LaRue won the National Championship for Digital Art at the Junior Beta Nationals Convention in Louisville, Kentucky.
“We are all so proud of him,” said mom and local photographer Kristin LaRue. “Trophy or no trophy, we are proud of his accomplishments and love watching him chase his dreams. How odd is it to get 2nd in state both times, and go on to become the National Champion for the second year in a row???”
Overall, students representing Chisum ISD had a successful week at the 2024 Senior National Convention.
Texas State Senior Beta President and Chisum ISD junior, Kiki Ball ran for National Beta President but sadly didn’t win the title. However, being named Texas State Senior Beta President was a huge accomplishment in itself.
“Kiki’s national journey is at an end, but she will be the most rockin’ Texas State President ever! I’m more proud of the many many clubs lifting her up and telling her how proud they are of her than a national title. She touched some lives and she handled it all with grace and that fantastic smile never left her face. Sometimes factors are out of our hands and you keep climbing. Kiki will definitely keep climbing,” said Chisum High Beta online.
