Charles “Charlie” Earl Brumley, 80, of Paris passed away Thursday, March 23rd 2023 peacefully in his home.
A Graveside service with Military Honors will be held at Meadowbrook Cemetery in Paris on Tuesday, March 28th at 11:00AM. Arrangements in care of Fry Gibbs Funeral Home.
Charles was born September 7, 1942 in Quanah, Tx to Elmer Brumley and Ophelia (Hinsley) Brumley. He grew up there and in NE Texas, joined the Navy at a young age and ended is navy career in the Reserves. Charles worked several small jobs in the Paris community including Phillips 66, Hicks Muffler and Goodwill industries. Charles married Brenda Black in 1973 and they had 2 children. Charles later married Geneva Rawson in 1983 and was widowed in 1988. In 2001, he married Linda Thorpe and was widowed in 2007.
Charles loved to socialize. He spent every day at home with family and caregivers telling stories and watching The Price is Right and Wheel of Fortune. He also never missed a game of his beloved Dallas Cowboys. He will forever be a fan. In his younger days, Charles loved fishing and trying his luck at the casino. Charles had a giving heart, was kind and never met a stranger.
Charles is survived by his son Samuel “Sammy” Earl Brumley and daughter Darlene Brumley Fugett; stepchildren Amanda Bohanon, Kathy Lang, Angie Hutchings and Gene Cashion Jr; brothers Robert Brumley and John Brumley; sisters Paula Murphy, Velvet Winkle, Peggy Smith and Evangeline Brumley and well as numerous grand children, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Charles was preceded in death by his parents, Elmer and Ophelia Brumley, brother Jimmie Brumley, wife Geneva Rawson Brumley, wife Linda Thorpe Brumley and stepdaughter Mary Krebsbach.
Caregivers Brenda Daniel, Sandi King, Kim Mansfield, Debbie Raney, Christi Bruce, Lorita Jolliff and Jamie McNeely had a special place in Charles’s heart.
