Charlene Thomas Duke, 93, of Roxton, TX, a beloved member of the Roxton Baptist Church. Wife of John Harvey Duke, daughter of Charley and Eva Thomas. Born in Lilbert, TX on February 11,1931, peacefully entered into eternal life on September 22, 2024.
John 11:25-26 Jesus told her “I am the resurrection and the life, whoever believes in me, even if he dies, will live, and everyone who lives and believes in me will never die.”
She graduated Cushing High School in 1949. Afterwards, she began working at Southwestern Bell, retiring in 1993.
Charlene moved to Roxton in 1999, making this little community her home. She lived for Jesus and family, thrived among family and church. Quiet and humble, putting everything and everyone before herself.
While petite, she was remarkably strong and tough, chasing grandchildren and great-grandchildren around.
She has joined her husband, John Harvey Duke in death, along with her parents, Charley and Eva Thomas, all of her siblings; Albert Thomas, Treva Whitaker, Sybil Parsons, Glen Thomas, Frank Thomas and her loving granddaughter Hayden Aduddell.
She is survived by her three children; Dr. Ann Aduddell and spouse Tommy Aduddell of Canton, TX, John David Duke and spouse Crystal Duke of Roxton, TX, and Lisa Miller and spouse Randy Miller of Canton, TX. Seven grandchildren; Wesley Duke, Andrea Duke, Mitchell Miller, Grayson Aduddell, William Duke, Mason Miller and Bridgett Aduddell; 10 great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
The service will be at Roxton Baptist Church, visitation will begin at 10 am and service at 11am. There will also be a graveside service to follow at Restland Cemetery in Roxton on Thursday September 26, 2024 , officiated by Chuey Potter. Bright-Holland Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
