On Sunday, November 2nd Carl Wade, loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, went to be with the Lord at the age of 89, surrounded by his loving family.
Carl was born December 13, 1935, in Beaumont, Tx. to Harry R. and Bernice Wade. He went to Wolfe City High School in Wolfe City, Tx. (1950-1954) where he played football, baseball, ran track and boxed. He moved to Paris, Tx. to play football at Paris Jr. College and then played for Commerce at East Texas State University.
He met the love of his life, Carol Vaughn Wade and they were married 65 years before her death on December 20, 2020. They had four children: Carla Sanders (Doug), Carie Archer (Eddie), Caren Moore (Larry), Carl Allen Wade (Renea). His grandchildren Lorrie Farris (Chris), Jeremy Archer (Kristen), Carressa Simmons (Josh), Carlee Brazeal (Ben), Shelby Wade (Hayley), Brittany Wade (Michael Miles), Mallie Johnson (Jimmy), Lance Moore (Kymberly) and Justin Archer. His great-grandchildren, Lannie Miller (Levi), Brandt Archer (Galtia), BreAnn Archer, Bryce and Brolin Archer, Cara Brazeal, Piper and Presley Simmons, Logan Moore, Easton Ford, Asher and Ember Johnson and Memphis and Aubyn Wade. Carl is also survived by three nieces whom he and his wife reared as their own, Brenda Burks, Wanda Huddleston, and Charlotte Rosario along with several other nieces and nephews and extended family.
He was preceded in death by his wife Carol, grandson, Justin and son-in-law Larry Moore and his parents.
Carl worked at the Texas Highway Dept. beginning in 1955. He retired after 36 years as a Chief Inspector in Lamar, Red River, Delta and Fannin counties. He worked after retirement with his son, Carl, at C.W. Construction for 10 years building custom homes and metal buildings. He worked for Hayter Engineering for 13 ½ years as an inspector before his retirement.
He loved people and was very active and helped with needs of the community where he and Carol began the Girl’s Softball League of Paris 1972-2005 on the campus site where they named Wade Field after him.
He was honored at the Boys and Girls Club on the Wall of Honor for years of service and was a board member for many years. He was a member, Lt. Governor and President for the Noon Optimist Club.
He belonged to APHA where he showed his horse Justa with his granddaughter, Carlee.
He is a member and past board member of Highway Full Gospel Church. His greatest legacy is the love he had for the Lord and his family.
The family will receive friends 1 hour prior to the service. Funeral services will be at Bright-Holland Funeral Home on Wednesday November 5th at 11:00. Burial, with Masonic Services, will follow at Evergreen Cemetery. Craig Holcomb will officiate.
Carl was a Mason for 50 years.

Honorary Pallbearers will be: Larry Rickman, Mark Cunningham, Don Bonham, Ollie Lee, Steve Hill and great-grandsons Levi Miller, Brandt, Bryce and Brolin Archer, Logan Moore, Easton Ford, Asher Johnson and Memphis Wade.
