Barbara Ann Lohaus, 80, of Blossom, passed away Sunday, June 17, 2018.

Services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m. Thursday, June 21st, at Bright-Holland Funeral Home with Rev. Shawn Deterding of Beautiful Savior Lutheran Church officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow in Knights of Honor Cemetery at Blossom.

Barbara was born in Houston, Texas to parents Robert & Ruby Hasty.

She graduated from Paola High School in Paola, Kansas and decided to join the workforce instead of furthering her education and spending a lot of time with the love of her life, Martin H. Lohaus, to whom she married on April 8, 1956.

Barbara joined the Lutheran Church, L.C.M.S. before marrying Martin and remained a lawful, faithful member and served as a Treasurer, Financial Secretary, and Secretary.

Barbara’s hobbies involved reading, crocheting and other needlework projects, cooking, and she dearly loved traveling in the RV on short and long trips.

Martin’s job relocated to Deer Park, Texas and the couple decided his job to be more important than Barbara’s. She worked at Smith & Company 13 years and the last as Office Manager and Bookkeeper. Then in 1984, Martin was sent to Stockton, California on temporary assignment and they decided he would quit, and Martin & Barbara went to work building Custom Cabinets by referral only under the name of B & M Custom Woodworking.

In 1995, Martin & Barbara relocated to Rural Route Blossom and in retirement remodeled the house they bought and Barbara got her custom cabinets.

She was preceded in death by Robert & Ruby Hasty, Henry & Martha Lohaus, brothers-in-law, Lary Hamline, Lawrence Lohaus, Edison Parker, Jr., Marvin Sander, Arnold Rentz, and Walter Lohaus, and a sister-in-law, Hilda Lohaus.

Survivors include her husband of 62 years, Martin H. Lohaus, her sister, Judy Whitehead & Mike, brother-in-law, Richard K. Lohaus & Ruth, sisters-in-law, Henryetta Sander, Katherine Parker and Leona Rentz, along with numerous nieces & nephews and a host of friends.

Casket bearers will be Kenn Meeske, Chuck James, Dale Hunold, Jeff Morrison, Ron Holm, Jerry Patton & Chase Hunold. Honorary bearers will be: Darrell Mischka and John James.
