Over 80 junior and senior art students from Chisum, Hugo, Paris, North Lamar, Trinity Christian Academy, Prairiland and Mt. Pleasant high schools attended a recent Paris Junior College Art Day hosted by the Art Department.
Guest artists, along with current PJC students, led five separate workshops on combining cold wax with oil paint, screen printing on t-shirts, figure drawing with a live model, ceramics and painting on fabric. Students pre-registered to take two of the workshops offered.
“PJC Art Day is a lot of fun,” said PJC Art Faculty Lena Spencer. “The students get an in-depth, on campus experience including lunch in the cafeteria. We work, laugh, and make some incredible artwork. I’m always so impressed with the talent and creativity of those attending. They get to meet other students with the same interests from other schools and talk with current PJC students. We look forward to hosting this event every year.”
PJC’s Art Department coordinates the PJC Art Day every spring semester. Those interested in participating should contact PJC Art Faculty member Lena Spencer at lspencer@parisjc.edu.
