Arloa J. Williams Stewart, known as Sandy by many friends and family, passed to her heavenly home on Sept. 16, 2025, at Brentwood Terrace at the age of 101 years while surrounded by family.
Bright-Holland Funeral Home has scheduled services for 2:00 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 18th at the Chapel of Evergreen Cemetery with Ben Holland officiating. The family will receive friends at the Evergreen Chapel thirty minutes prior to the service.
She was born on May 25, 1924, in the township of Erie, PA to the parents Robert K. Williams and Mary L. Olivett Williams. She was the third child and baby sister to her two older brothers. She was baptized at an early age at Wayside Baptist Church. After graduation from high school, she was employed by Kammer Mill Paper Company during the war. Later she was employed by Dr. McDougal, the local dentist.
Sandy married Donald Garvin Stewart on Feb. 5, 1951. With this marriage she became a housewife and mother to her three sons, with each boy being born in different states because of her husband’s career with G. C. Murphy as a manager. The family moved to Paris, TX in 1962, with her boys being in school she went to work at the L. P. McCuistion Regional Medical Center and also joined a bowling league. Good friends who have preceded her in death, Ruth Barnes Smith, Ruth’s two sisters, Ruth Dennison, Pauline Richardson, Beverly Biriniyi and many others.
Years later they moved to Beaumont, TX, then to Alexandria, LA. Their last move was to Dallas, TX and a career move where she reconnected with her best friend, Beverly Biriniyi. What these two did is all rubbed out. They volunteered at the Presbyterian Hospital. They kept the people laughing at their pranks and on their toes. Bev was the sister she never had.
After her husband’s untimely death in 1991, she later returned to Paris to be with her oldest son and family.
Preceding in death are her parents, her two brothers, Grant and Bob, two nieces, Gail and Marsha, and one grandson, Cody Stewart and many other relatives.
She is survived by sons, Gary and wife Margaret of Paris, Bob and girlfriend Susie of Kountze, and Bill and wife Linda of Lumberton, grandchildren, Lori Stewart, Caryn Jones and husband Mike, Chad Stewart, Crissy Bailey and husband Jeff, Courtney Yust and husband Fred all of Lumberton, 10 great grandchildren and 11 great great grandchildren.
We want to thank all the staff and friends of Brentwood Terrace for all of the love you have shown while she was living there. She loved and cherished each and every one of you. To her best friends she made; Deloris, Frieda, Loy, and Raymond.
We want to thank Ben Holland for being her special person since their friendship began in 1992 and for always remembering her on special occasions, you made her days brighter. Last but not least Susie Young not just a former caregiver, but as a true friend that has been there through it all.
