Are you registered to vote? Well, if not you can get registered on Tuesday, Sept 24, as part of the National Voter Registration Day

The national “holiday” began back in 2012 to stop people from learning they’re not eligible to vote only when they get to the polls. Whether they missed a deadline, failed to update their registration or just don’t know how to register; this national “holiday” according to National Voter Registration Day’s website is here to help you get registered correctly.

This day is recognized every fourth Tuesday in September, which this year falls on Sept 24.

For Lamar County residents, if you’re not sure how to get registered, you can click here, and the link will take you directly to the county’s website with all the information.

If you’re not sure about your current voting status, click here to check and see if you are already registered or if you require to register.

You can also go down to the voting office which is located at 231 Lamar Ave, and is open Monday-Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

More than two million Americans have registered to vote on this day since its inception.
