Amanda Kay (Barker) Barnard, 63, of Clardy, passed away Tuesday, Aug. 5, 2025, at her home.
Memorial services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 9th at Bright-Holland Funeral Home with Rev. Abby Strickland officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service.
Amanda, the daughter of Troyal LaVerne Barker and Frances Charlene Sprueill Barker, was born Dec. 28, 1961, in Paris, TX.
She graduated from Prairiland High School in 1979, followed by Paris Junior College and East Texas State University where she received her bachelors degree in education. Amanda taught at Blossom Elementary School in various grades for 14 years. She then received her certificate to teach homemaking and art and moved to Prairiland High School where she taught for 13 years. Her career in education spanned 27 years before her retirement. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Blossom where she taught Sunday school and had been the head of the Mother’s Day Out Program. Amanda was a past member of the DRT. She loved the beach and looked forward each year to her trip to Florida. She was an avid gardener and loved animals of all kinds. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
She was preceded in death by her father, Troyal LaVerne Barker.
Survivors include two sons, Seth Barnard and Ethan Barnard and girlfriend Devin, her mother, Charlene Barker, her brother, Vern Barker and wife Kathy, her life partner, Tim Holmes, a nephew, Cole Barker and wife Stephanie, a niece, Cobi Grant and husband Casey, a great nephew, Carson Barker and a great niece, Cameron Grant along with numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and a host of friends.
