Lieutenant Colonel Allen West, candidate for Texas Governor, will speak at Love Civic Center on Feb. 22, 2022, at 6:30 p.m.
West announced he’s running in the Republican Primary against current-Governor Greg Abbott in July.
“I’ve not been in elected political office for about a decade, but I can no longer sit on the sidelines and see what has happened in these United States of America,” West said during an announcement speech.
During a meet-and-greet in January 2021, West said the Republican Party had not been focused on the municipal-level elections, but it is “where you build your farm.
“It starts right here,” he said. “It starts with your city council, it starts with your school board. The most important elected position in the United States of America is school board. The election to have the least amount of voter participation in the United States of America is the school board.”
The Love Civic Center is located at 2025 S. Collegiate St., and West’s meet and greet will begin at Feb. 22, 2022, at 6:30 p.m.
