The Oklahoma State Department of Education unanimously voted Monday afternoon to order all Oklahoma public schools to cease operations from Mar. 17 through Apr. 6 due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.
Hugo High School issued the following statement online Monday afternoon:
“By order of OSDE, all Oklahoma public schools are closed until April 6th. The closure could be extended beyond April 6th. Instruction, conferences, and extracurriculars will not take place during this time. Essential clerical, maintenance, and child nutrition may take place. No one should panic about a loss of wages or about state testing. Both of these issues will be addressed ASAP. Meetings (small groups or virtual) will be held very soon to plan how we can supply meals and provide learning resources for our students. Communication during this time is best done electronically,” said Hugo Public Schools Superintendent Dr. Earl Dalke. “Our first priority is the safety and well-being of our students and staff.”
