North Lamar Intermediate third and fourth-grade Gifted and Talented (GT) students brought literature to life on Thursday, October 8, as they shared creative projects with their parents.
Under the direction of GT teacher Christie Coe, students explored two inspiring children’s books before creating projects that reflected the themes and messages of each story.
Third-grade students read Sarabella’s Thinking Cap, a story that celebrates imagination, creativity, and embracing the way each person thinks. Students used the book as inspiration to develop projects highlighting their own unique ideas.
Fourth-grade students explored What Do You Do With an Idea?, a story that encourages readers to nurture their ideas, believe in themselves, and recognize how even a small idea can grow into something extraordinary. Their projects reflected the book’s message of innovation and perseverance.
Parents were invited to view the finished projects and hear students explain their creative processes, giving students an opportunity to demonstrate their learning and take pride in their accomplishments.
Through activities that combine literacy, creativity, and higher-level thinking, North Lamar’s GT program encourages students to explore new perspectives, express their individuality, and build confidence in their abilities.
