Over 250 people attended the United Way of Lamar County’s Annual Breakfast Meeting this past Wednesday morning at the Love Civic Center.
During the meeting all of the Campaign Volunteers were recognized as were the top workplace campaigns which included at the Bronze Level – Edward Jones Stephen Gerrald, Farmers Bank, Lamar County, North Lamar ISD and Paris Orthopedics; at the Silver Level – Peoples Bank, Bahena Construction, Paris Junior College and DELCO Trailers; at the Gold Level – Lamar National Bank, Liberty National Bank, RK Hall Construction, Paris ISD, First Federal Community Bank and Turner Industries; and at the Platinum Level – Campbell Soup, Paris Regional Health, HOWRAH, and Kimberly-Clark. Kimberly-Clark Corporation Paris Plant had the largest workplace campaign in 2026 bringing in over $72,000.
Stacey England, vice-president of the Downtown Food Pantry Board of Directors was announced as the Volunteer of the Year. Outgoing board members Amanda Green, Jason Exum and Andy Cobb were also honored. UWLC Board Member Alicia Moore and her sister Alex Annett introduced their father Mr. Steve Martin, who received this year’s Lifetime Community Service Leadership Award from the United Way of Lamar County. Mr. Martin gave an inspiring and motivating speech on giving back to your community.
Executive Director Jenny Wilson concluded the meeting by announcing the official kick-off for the 2027 Fall Campaign with a goal of raising $575,000. Wilson relayed a story of a mom who recently called the United Way office needing help with her rent and how defeated this mom was until the United Way gave her hope that there was help in our community. “Giving to the United Way gives hope to those in need in our community and gives hope to our partner agencies that need funding,” Wilson stated.
