A life of faithful service ended on July 26, 2026, when Betty Sue Reese Anderson took her final earthly breath and opened her eyes to the glory of heaven.
Betty Sue Reese was born to Odie Burke Reese and Lois Nelwyn Rakes on November 30, 1936, in Deport, Texas. She filled her 89 years with love for her husband, Robert K. Anderson, whom she married on September 20, 1958, in Paris, Texas. Together they raised a son, Mikel Kern Anderson, and they served their church, neighborhood and community well.
Betty graduated from West Lamar High School and attended Paris Junior College. She worked for many years at Liberty National Bank, alongside Robert on their farm, and in her home.
The Andersons attended Seventh Street Baptist Church for most of their married life, and later they served the Lord at Immanuel Baptist Church. She was faithful to her Sunday school class and the Tuesday morning Bible study that she attended with her friends. Betty quietly served the Lord as a Sunday school teacher, VBS leader, and hospitality committee member. She was very humble about it, but after years of daily time in the Word, her Bible knowledge was unmatched.
Betty‘s favorite times were spent with family. She and Robert dropped everything when their grandchildren were around.
Every person felt love in her presence. Her sweet spirit was her most notable character quality, and in later years, she also proved there was an undercurrent of bravery as she faced life and tackled whatever came next.
Betty’s parents, her husband and two nephews, Robert Wayne (Bobby)Dabbs and Byron Lane Campbell predeceased her.
She is survived by her son, Mikel (Mike) and his wife, Janet; her grandson Chris Anderson and his wife, Abby; her granddaughter Sarah Beth Craig and her husband Ryan; and two great grandchildren, Wyatt Craig and Aaron Craig. She is also survived by her sister and precious friend, Rita Campbell; Rita‘s daughter, Vicki Weeber and her husband, Terry; her sister-in-law, Mary Sue Dabbs and Mary Sue‘s son Craig Dabbs.
In lieu of flowers donations in her memory may be made to Immanuel Baptist Church. Services are scheduled for 10:00 a.m. Friday, Aug. 14 th at Bright Holland Funeral Home with Rev. Steve Gunter officiating. Private burial will be made in Meadowbrook Gardens. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Thursday, Aug. 13th from 5-7 p.m.
