Betsy Elizabeth Townsend, 94, of Paris, passed away Sunday, July 12, 2026, at The Home Place.
Bright-Holland Funeral Home has scheduled services for 10:00 a.m. Friday, July 17th at the Pavilion of Pyles Cemetery with Bro. Evan Butler and Patti Townsend officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Thursday from 6 – 7 p.m.
Mrs. Townsend, the daughter of Thomas Oliver Pridemore and Cora Dempsey Gill Pridemore, was born Nov. 15, 1931, in Ragtown, TX. She was a homemaker and stay-at-home mom until her sons were older. Betsy then began a career at Campbell Soup Company which spanned many years before her retirement. She was a faithful member of the Blossom Church of Christ.
On Aug. 5, 2005, her husband, Byron Townsend, preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by three sons, Greg Townsend, Robert Townsend, and Terry Townsend, her parents, a grandson, Corey Townsend, a grand son-in-law, Danny Lawson, and a great granddaughter, Megan Lawson.
Survivors include two daughters-in-law, Patti Townsend and Mary Olsen, four grandchildren, Christy Lawson (Jarvis McCarty), Holly Scott (Marty), Kelly Nichols (John), and Wesley Judd Townsend, 9 great grandchildren, 10 great great grandchildren, a sister-in-law, Rebecca Stephens, and a brother-in-law, Sydney Townsend (Elaine) along with numerous nieces and nephews and a host of friends.
The family would like to extend appreciation to Platinum Home Health and Hospice, Tamara Ricks-Thomas, Kari Whitsell, and Deedee Owens, and The Home Place for the care given to their loved one. A special thank you to her church family for the attention they gave her.
