A standoff involving multiple law enforcement agencies on FM 905 in Lamar County ended Wednesday when authorities found a suspect deceased at the scene.
“The Lamar County Sheriff’s Office and other local law enforcement agencies were notified that a person from Hopkins County was threatening suicide and law enforcement,” said the Lamar County Sheriff’s Office.
The person’s vehicle was located stopped in the middle of the road on FM 905 by Lamar County Precinct 2 Constable and Lamar County Sheriff Detectives and a standoff with law enforcement began.
Residents in the affected area were notified and instructed to remain inside their homes until the scene was secured. Once the scene was secured, Sheriff Deputies notified the residents.
“After a short time, with assistance from video footage from the Lamar County Sheriff’s Office drone team, it was confirmed that the subject was deceased from what appeared to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound.”
Agencies involved included Lamar County Constable Precinct 2, Lamar County Sheriff’s Office, Hopkins County Sheriff’s Office, Texas Department of Public Safety, Lamar County Emergency Management, the Paris Police Department, local volunteer fire departments, and Paris EMS.
