Mildred Christine (Stephens) Nutt, 91, of Paris, passed away peacefully at her home Monday, May 4, 2026.
A funeral service has been scheduled for Friday, May 8, 2026, in the chapel of Fry-Gibbs Funeral Home with visitation one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow at Evergreen Cemetery.
Christine was born on November 8, 1934, in Powderly, Texas, to parents Walter and Ola (Enox) Stephens. Christine attended Roxton schools and then married the love of her life, Fred Lewis Nutt, Sr., on December 23, 1950. Christine had one job that she devoted her entire working life to, Campbell’s Soup Company, where she retired after 31 years of service. She was a long-time member of the Ramseur Baptist Church. She enjoyed traveling and treasured the memories she made everywhere, from the charm of Branson to the beauty of Europe. She had a special love for flowers, whose beauty reflected her warm and gentle sweet spirit. More than anything, she cherished her time spent with family and friends, especially her precious grandchildren, who brought her great joy. She loved talking on the phone, sharing in conversation, laughter, love, stories of days gone by and staying connected with those she cared about. Her home was always open, greeted with a smile; she truly loved company. She always looked forward to reading The Paris News so she could stay up to date.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Walter and Ola Stephens, husband, Fred Nutt, Sr., daughters, Kathy Nutt Johnson and Debra Nutt Killian; brothers, Dale Stephens and Haskell Stephens, Sr.; sisters, Shirley McFarland and Joyce Williams.
She is survived by her son, Fred Nutt, Jr. and wife, Dana; sons-in-law, Doug Johnson and Bill Killian; grandchildren, Josh Nutt and wife, Jill, Jenna Nutt, Shandie Ayers, and Heath Nutt Johnson; great-grandchildren, Jayda, Makialia, Derrick Cayden, Kyson, Londyn, Cam, Annie, and Audrey; brother, Gerald Stephens and wife, Susan; sister, Janice Rittenberry and husband, Jerry.
Pallbearers will be Kyson Blackmon, Derrick Cayden Brooks, Mike Chapman, Kelly Collins, Doug Johnson, Josh Nutt, Heath Nutt Johnson, Gerald Stephens, Jr.
Honorary pallbearers will be Bill Killian and Haskell Stephens, Jr.
If desired, memorials may be made to the Paris Education Foundation or to College of the Ozarks.
The Nutt family would like to express our sincere and heartfelt appreciation to Christine’s home care providers, Janet Ringwald and Amanda Morrison, as well as On-Call Hospice and their special providers for their kind, gentle, and devoted service.
