On Mar. 30, Officers responded to the 1200 block of SE 16th in regards to an assault. The victim advised that a known suspect had assaulted him by putting him in a choke hold for several minutes. The suspect, who had already left the scene, was contacted by phone and admitted to having assaulted the victim. Officers spoke with witnesses and collected evidence. The investigation is ongoing.
On Mar. 30, Officers were notified of an Animal Cruelty case in the 400 block of SW 13th. The reporting party advised that a known suspect left a female dog tied to a tree for multiple hours without food or water. The suspect then returned and left several nursing pups with the female and abandoned them, with the female still tied to the tree. The animals were taken into custody by Paris Animal Control. Officers investigated the incident and spoke with witnesses. The investigation will continue.
On Mar. 31, an officer made contact with David Paul Goss (38) in the 2400 block of Plum St. Goss was observed to be in possession of a vape, which the officer suspected as being a THC laden product. Goss quickly placed the vape pen in his pocket. When questioned as to possession of any contraband Goss became nervous but did agree to empty his pockets. Goss was found to be in possession of a THC pen. He was arrested for Possession of a Controlled Substance. A subsequent search of Goss’ property located methamphetamine, marijuana, and several prescription medications in bottles which were not prescribed to Goss. Goss was charged with four counts of Possession of Controlled Substance as well as Possession of Marijuana. He was booked and taken to county jail.
On Mar. 31, Officers arrested Rodney Pierre Thomas (60) after responding to a disturbance call in the 300 block of 9th SW. Thomas was reported to be at the residence after being warned away. Officers located Thomas in the 200 block of NW 9th and made contact. Thomas had a crowbar and an approximately 6’ pole with him at the time. His speech was rambling and contradictory. During officers attempting to find out what was happening from Thomas, he became belligerent and refused to communicate further. Officers were informed by the victim that Thomas had knocked on the door and when it was opened had entered the residence and lunged at the victim with the crowbar and pole, placing the victim in fear of assault. Thomas had been previously warned away from the residence in July of 2025. Thomas was arrested for Criminal Trespass of a Residence and Burglary of a Residence. He was booked and taken to county jail.
Officers made 13 traffic stops, 4 adult arrest, and answered 110 calls for service during this reporting period.
