Willie Kathryn Mills, 98, of Sumner, passed away Monday, Feb. 16, 2026, while surrounded by her family.
Bright-Holland Funeral Home has scheduled services for 2:00 p.m. Friday, Feb. 20th at Emberson Baptist Church with Dr. Gary Reed officiating. The family will receive friends from 6 – 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Burial will be made at Dallas-Ft. Worth National Cemetery.
Mrs. Mills, the daughter of Olan Edgar Bell and Bertha Bell, was born Dec. 27, 1927, in Hartman, Arkansas. She attended school in Arkansas and graduated from John H. Reagan High School in Houston where she was in the band and played the clarinet. Her career with Britz Department Store in Houston spanned a number of years. She was a member of the Eastern Star and was a tireless worker, raising untold sums of money for the Scottish Rite Hospital for Children and the Shriners Hospital for Children. She received many awards and accolades over the years for her dedication. Kathryn was a member of the Emberson Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 54 years, Edwin W. Mills, Sr., an infant son, David Mills, an infant granddaughter, Lisa Ann Mills, all her siblings, and Louis DeVoltz, whom she thought of as a son.
Survivors include her son, Edwin W. “Ed” Mills and wife Marilyn, four grandchildren, Casey Villarreal and husband Anthony, Edwena Winters and husband Buren, Clint Mills and wife Karla, and Ricky Johnsonand wife Jennifer, five great grandchildren, Ely Winters and wife Raquel, Sierra Villarreal and fiancé Rylie, Clay Mills, Lane Johnson, and Dakotah Lytton and two great great grandchildren, Brensley and Lakelin, along with a host of friends.
