Helen Threet Clark, the matriarch of our family, passed away on Thursday, January 8, 2026, at Paris Regional Medical Center at the age of 90 surrounded by her family. Helen was the third of three children born to James M. Threet and Birtie Prater Threet on December 2, 1935, in Delta County, Texas. Funeral services will be held on Monday. Jan. 12th at 1:00 at the Evergreen Chapel of Evergreen Cemetery, Paris with Rev. Jimmy Lee officiating. Arrangements are entrusted to Bright-Holland Funeral Home.
Helen attended grade school in Enloe and graduated from Cooper High School in 1954. She and James Harold Clark of Roxton were married September 14, 1955. They joyfully welcomed two sons, James V. Clark and Anthony (Tony) Clark.
Helen lived her first twenty years in and around Ben Franklin and Race Track and then moved to Paris for the next seventy years of her life. She began her career at the Sanitarium of Paris as a clerk before beginning her long career of employment at First Federal Savings and Loan in Paris. She retired as a vice president after 48 years, 6 months, and 17 days. She liked to say she left at lunch on her last day.
She enjoyed doing yard work and tending to her flower gardens. She was an amazing wife, mother, sister, aunt, grandmother, great-grandmother, and a friend to many. When the yard and house became too much, she made the decision to move to The Home Place Assisted Living in June 2021. The family would like to express our most sincere thanks to the kind and caring staff there. Additionally, the medical professionals at Paris Regional provided compassionate and comforting care in her final hours.
Helen leaves behind to cherish her memory her son, Jim Clark of Yukon, Oklahoma, grandsons Justin of Ephrata, Washington, Jared, Jacob, and Jed and granddaughter Jaci of Oklahoma. She also leaves behind many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by husband James and beloved son Tony whose birthday happens to be January 8. She joined him on his heavenly birthday. Oh what a celebration they must have had. She was also preceded in death by parents Jim and Birtie Threet and her brothers, Roy and Bill Threet. She was a very special and amazing lady who was a hard worker, smart, and a wonderful cook.
Donations can be made to the Toys for Tots organization of Lamar County in memory of Helen Ruth Threet Clark.
